To get around this, place the setup files all in one folder on your hard drive. For example, "c:\w101inst". Then, at a command prompt, use the subst command to substitute the drive letter. For example: subst a: c:\w101inst Change to a: and run setup.exe. DANGER!!: The default installation directory is C:\WINDOWS! DO NOT INSTALL THERE OR IT WILL OVERWRITE YOUR EXISTING WINDOWS! Change the installtion directory to C:\WIN101 When it asks for a pointing device, specify the appropriate type of mouse. Note that PS/2 mice are not supported. Also note that specifing a pointing device may cause Windows 9x to lock up if Windows 1.01 is run in a DOS window, requiring you to exit Windows 9x first. (Otherwise it works fine in a DOS window!). When it asks you to specify a graphics adapter, select "6: EGA (more than 64k) with Enhanced Color Display". Follow the rest of the on screen prompts. When installation is compleate, run "win.com" from the directory you installed it in to.
